BURLEIGH BREWING AT THE AACTA’S
Burleigh Brewing was approached by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards at the end of 2013 to be the official beer provider for the 2014 AACTA Awards…needless to say we jumped at the chance to be able to share Burleigh Beers with the likes of Geoffrey Rush, Cate Blanchett and Sam Worthington to mention just a few of the seriously star studded names that attended the AACTA awards.
Held on the 29th and 31st of January the AACTA’s are a chance for the best of the best in the Australian Film and Television industry to be awarded and acknowledged for their hard work, dedication and creativity. From actors to screenwriters to special effects wizards and editors, the awards covered the entire industry across two events.
It was an honour to be approached by the Academy and be considered the “AACTA’s Choice” for the awards. It was incredibly exciting for a small family business from the Gold Coast to be rubbing shoulders with the pinnacle of Australian film and television practitioners and even more exciting to see them drinking our beer!
The red carpet experience is truly surreal but don’t worry we won’t get too big a head from this (pun intended!) – the only people taking our picture was…us! Selfies on the red carpet is so Burleigh Brewing!
We have to give a huge MASSIVE thank you to Lisa Brown designs for lending Peta and Claire their beautiful dresses for the event – absolutely wouldn’t have looked nearly as good without their help and support! THANK YOU!
There were many chance encounters like Claire plonking herself down next to AACTA Award winner Lachy Hulme while she was chowing down on some seriously delicious pulled pork tacos and taking the opportunity to say ‘congratulations’! Or Peta jagging the photo of the night with Sam Worthington (before you ask NO we didn’t see Lara and DOUBLE NO we didn’t ask about her!). Or even weirder in a ‘6 degrees of separation’ sense meeting the writing team behind the horror comedy “100 Bloody Acres” that was nominated for Best Screenplay. Just so happens they’re two brothers from Brisbane, Colin and Cameron Cairnes who went to the same school Peta! Small world indeed!
