BLA! CHARITY AUCTION FOR LIVIN
As part of BLA! and together with the incredibly talented Jess Lambert we’re raising funds for LIVIN (click here to find out more about the charity).
Jess’ previous work speaks for itself – with people around the world, including the likes of Kelly Slater, commissioning her to create works of art for their collections. The beautifully hand drawn lines and patterns Jess creates perfectly compliment the medium – in this case a TimberTek Firewire surfboard, generously donated by the kind people at Firewire surfboards.

After the artwork is completed each board is professionally coated in clear resin to protect the artwork so it stays on forever. KMD Surfboards in Currumbin have kindly donated their time and resources to coat this board once Jess has finished the entire piece.
A little from Jess:
“Every board that I work on is special but this one in particular. I love creating artwork, its something that I’m so passionate about, and I love being able to share what I do for people to see and appreciate. Being able to use my art in ways that can help others is really important to me so this board was special for that reason. I remember watching a video about LIVIN a few months ago, how it all started and everything that they’re doing, straight away I felt this urge to help their mission. Just a few days later Burleigh Brewing contacted me to draw on a board with all the proceeds going to a local charity, as soon as they told me the charity was LIVIN I knew it was just meant to be.
I wanted to create a design that had elements of our beautiful coast that we all love so much. In total there’s close to 25 hours of hand drawn line work that went into this board, incorporating the Gold Coast skyline, Burleigh point, Burleigh Hill and my favourite animal of the ocean, the whale. To me, they’re just these big friendly giants and when I see whales I think of strength which links in so well to what LIVIN is all about and what they’re doing. They’re spreading knowledge and creating awareness for mental health, helping others to speak up and that’s generating so much strength in our community and nationwide.
With every artwork I draw I always aim to push myself outside of my comfort zone, trying new things so that I’m constantly developing my style. I usually just use black pens, but on this board I knew I wanted to do more, so I’ve used colour for the first time ever. Turquoise is my favourite colour, I guess that comes from loving the ocean and the colour of the water we’re so lucky to have here on the coast, so I’ve used this to highlight certain parts of the design. I hope that whoever finally owns this board loves it as much as I loved creating it.”

Together with Jess, the team at Burleigh Brewing are honoured and excited to be passing on 100% of this auction’s proceeds to LIVIN* – an amazing locally grown charity, founded out of hardship to create awareness around mental illness.
Here’s a little about the charity:
“LIVIN was founded in honour of a great man Dwayne Lally who like many others took his life after suffering in silence from a mental illness. LIVIN is all about living your life at the top and destroying the stigma that is attached to mental illness. Connecting, supporting and encouraging one another to talk about our feelings, issues and challenges because “It Ain’t Weak to Speak”. LIVIN is here to shake things up and make it okay to speak up and seek help in the 21st century. No judgement, just shear compassion and understanding. Through education programs and awareness initiatives, LIVIN will launch a generational change. Let’s unite to help our brothers and sisters start LIVIN again. Join the movement.”
Happy bidding, art lovers.
