After a stellar event last year, BLA! Is back for 2017 on October 7. Having launched the event in 2016 we’re pumped for it to return with a new and exciting group of exhibiting and live artists. It’s the perfect opportunity for us as a community to come together and celebrate local artists, right here in our brewery.

BLA! 2017 will showcase sculpture and fine art, graphic design, typography and ceramics. There’ll also be live art, with a number of artists demonstrating how their creations come to life, in real time. Last year’s live art was a massive hit with guests and artists alike – if you missed it, take a look at some of the highlights from 2016 here.

The brief given to artists remains the same as BLA! 2016, that is “Balance, Character & Soul” and how an artist best relates this to the Gold Coast. Local photographer Fran Miller (pictured above) expanded on the brief saying, “I draw inspiration from my local surroundings on a daily basis. For me, that’s surf culture which is ingrained in our local community, and much of my artwork highlights the beauty of our region and portrays the characters who give the Gold Coast it’s personality”.

The premise of the event is simple; To generate exposure for local artists, engage and inspire our community with the vibrant art scene that exists here on the Coast and enable you to get your hands on some unique, locally crafted artwork … And given the event is in a brewery, enjoy some amazing hand-crafted beer while you’re at it.

Once again, you’ll have the chance to vote for your most loved piece of the night, and the winner will not only be crowned crowd favourite, they’ll receive a full-page feature in Blank GC magazine and two tickets to the Gold Coast Music Awards in 2018.

BLA! IS A FREE EVENT AND IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
