The 1970’s in America proved to be a crucial decade in what became known as the ‘craft beer revolution’. Not least due to hop growers pioneering the development of new varietals boasting exciting flavour and aroma characteristics. The American style pale ale became an overnight classic.
In Burleigh Heads, the seventies brought an exceptional phenomenon too. In 1975 a perfect swell graced Burleigh Point for 28 days straight – a freak of nature that has never been repeated. In our loved Burleigh 28 Pale Ale, we celebrate all those special times.

A big idea that happened. Have you ever been kicking around with your mates, half-daydreaming about stuff you could/should do when someone mentions something that seems so outrageous that you just have to have a crack at it? It’s pretty much the story of Burleigh Bighead.
We were challenged to brew an all-malt beer for the carb conscious, that actually delivered on its full-flavour promise. And the result is something we’re truly proud of. Not that we’re getting a big head about it.
